Ok, so obviously it's hard not to notice the monthly car-payment-like price of this dress, however, that being said... It. Is. Worth. Every. Penny. At least when that repo-man comes, you will look GOOD. Seriously. I'm 30 years old, 5'6", 150 pounds and I purchased the size 8. Never before in my 30 years on this Earth have I owned an article of clothing that fit this well. It's absolutely perfect! The dress itself is clearly stunning. Perfect black dress. The buttons are darling and let you choose your level or riske. The skirt is the perfect sexy, modern length. I feel like I'm over-using the word 'perfect' here, but no other word in the English language would apply quite as well. If you're thinking about purchasing this dress, do it. Don't think about it any longer. It's inconceivable that you could possibly, in any way, regret that decision. Start babysitting. Own that lemonade stand. Whatever you do... Buy this dress. It's... Perfect.

Well, after a few months of pondering whether to buy this dress I finally did. I read a lot of the reviews first and judging by what was said about this LBD I decided I had to order it.
I love this dress and that's only after trying it on to check the fit. I ordered the 6 as I'm generally a US6/UK10 in most brands. I noticed some people say it runs a little big but I didn't find this to be the case (unless you are very narrow shouldered and small breasted it should be fine).
The material is gorgeous but the points made about the potential for the material to snag are correct so I'd say to avoid wearing rings or bracelets that the dress sleeves could get caught on until after you've stepped in to this sexy little number. I'll certainly be watching where I sit when I'm wearing it for the same reasons.
There's a decent weight to this dress so for the sake of not over stretching the shoulders I intend to store it off the hanger.
However, overall I have to say that this is a great quality dress. Very well lined and super comfortable. Honestly I'm wondering why it's not double the price.
If you want something a little more chic, classy and unusual then this is the dress for you. I can't wait to wear it with nice heels and minimal accessories (it really doesn't need much else because it's so pretty).

Let me tell you something... This dress is all that and a sexy slice of bread. I had it in mind for a Valentine's day date and as soon and I tried it on and turned around in the mirror, I knew it was the one. It has just the right weight to it and the lining is slimming. I am a true sized 12 but the 10 ended up being the better fit. This is the kind of dress you want to hug the curves. It's nice that it has buttons and little latches so that you can choose the right amount of cleavage to reveal. FYI, I am a sized 12 in dresses and pants and generally a large in tops.
Why, oh WHY did this have to arrive just in time for Christmas? LOL I saw this astonishing dress just after my Carismma Sheath dress, in black, arrived. At first I thought this version was too close, but irl, it's in a class of it's own. You can barely tell from the photo, but the fabric on the bodice and skirt are different. The top has tiny circles with dots of red. The placket is also a different pattern, but instead of the hot mess I expected, the whole thing works to make you look like the most stunning creature in the room. Very, very flattering on most body types, but I'd dare say especially on the hourglass girl. This is the dress I would wear to dinner, to weddings, to business meetings with a jacket, to tea, to lunch with the girls, where wouldn't I wear this? Fit is tts, much like the Carismma sheath. I pray that it doesn't sell out before I can get my hands on one! Or, maybe, just maybe, it will show up under the tree!

Vintage, and modern at the same time. LOVE!!
I cannot say enough good things about this dress! I absolutely love it!
Fit is amazing, and so comfortable. Love how you can use the sash or not as well, really changes the look.
I love the length as well. I usually like to have my knees covered up but most dresses end up being too long or they just dont give you that girly feeling. This dress nails it!
One of my most favorite purchase's from Anthropology.
Very classic and timeless dress.

Even better than I hoped!
I visited this dress many times on the website, hoping it would go on sale, but finally decided to bit the bullet and pay full price. Prior reviews listed its unique detail and surprises that made this dress a conversation piece (and why I love Anthropologie!) and it didn't disappoint! It is form fitting and sexy in a smart-girl way, but it also possesses an artistic/couture quality that renders it timeless. I am 5'6 and a 35" bust/128 lbs and went with the 4p, as I prefer the hem to hit me at or above the knee. The fabric has stretch, which allows it to fit to your body, not bulge and buckle as a stiff fabric would do. I also cut the belt loops and moved belt/ribbon down so it would hit my waist, as the petite waist was higher- no problem at all. I am SOOO happy I splurged and know this will be a 'go to' dress for years to come.
I agree with the positive comments of other reviewers. This dress is soft, comfortable, and pleasantly flattering. I like the high/low hem; the "high" part is about 4 inches above my knees. The longest part is mid-calf. The hemline is pretty much as shown on the model. To state the obvious, the key is to find the right size. For reference I am just under 5'9" and 148 lbs. I usually wear a medium, but found that the small actually had a better drape to it on me. A sales associate told me that the dress did tend to run a bit big. The sleeves were a little snug when rolled up, but not when rolled down. Do check to be sure that where the buttons are on the sleeves there is also a corresponding loop. I tried on one dress where a loop was missing. Also, this may be just me, but I paid attention to the symmetry of the pattern, particularly the collar and bodice. I was not so concerned about the rest of the dress, recognizing there will always be some asymmetry and that is actually part of the charm. This is one dress that I feel is best tried on in person. I tried on several before finding "the one".

Great cozy dress!
I love this dress. I'm an employee at Anthropologie and I bought this dress the minute we got it in stock. I tried it on in a Large, which I typically wear a Large, unless something runs smaller then I will size up to an XL. I will say after finally wearing it the other day I wish I tried on the Medium. There is a lot of fabric on this dress on the bottom, and I think the Medium would've fit my upper body a little better. But oh well, I still think the large is fine, just a little extra loose. I wore it with the sleeves unrolled, and I buttoned it all the way up (except for the top button) and layered three different necklaces with it just to spice it up a bit. Also I paired with it tan colored booties and my black leather jacket. It's a great transitional piece from Fall/Winter to Spring/Summer. I feel like the material is super light weight to be able to wear in the warmer months with flats or super strappy flat sandals would be cute too. If you are thinking of getting this dress I highly recommend it. It does fit more true to size, unless you have a smaller bust then you could go one size down if you want a slightly tighter fit in the upper body area.

In LOVE with this dress!!
I ordered this dress online in my normal size large. As soon as I pulled it from the package I knew it was going to be too big and it was VERY loose. So on a trip into Dallas I exchanged it for a medium, which fit perfectly! It was still nice and flowy! I know some people were saying this dress could be tight in the bust, but it wasn't for me. My bust measures 40" around. So I think the trick is to buy the dress to fit your bust. For reference, I typically wear a size 12, 158lbs, and 5'6".
I had no intention of buying this dress at full price - but I shouldn't have tried it on. It fits really well! I like the unique styling on the top - how it covers your shoulders rather than just being a "tank-styled" top. The style of the top was a little different on all size S in my store - the center piece of the bodice was mainly navy with a small green spot or spots. It didn't bother me too much though. At 5'5", the regular length will require that I wear heels, which is unfortunate, but I think the P would be too short if it's "perfect" for one of the other reviewers, who is 5'3". The empire waist of this dress hides a few sins, without being frumpy and without looking like it's doing any hiding. There is a nice flow to the skirt. The lining only comes to my knees - which was a little distracting but not enough to dissuade me from purchasing the dress. The colors are very vibrant - and I think this dress looks way better in person than it does on the model (and how many times can you say that??). The fact that the dress is washable was a must in my book - hopefully it holds up in the gentle cycle.

Such a great dress- I had to try it on the day it arrived in store. Colors are very, very bright and fun. Fit is SO flattering and the wider sleeves are really nice- no bra strap slippage. Fabric is comfy and nice. The girls are definitely saying hello a bit with the deep v, but I don't think it is inappropriate. It is really long. I am 5'2", 36, 27, 36 and I generally take smalls or extra smalls. I can generally get away with just taking the XS home from the store, since I usually wear at least a little heel anyway, but I had to get petite this time. I ordered the XS petite and it fits perfectly!

Super comfy and stunning style when on.
I just bought this dress yesterday. Very comfortable, flattering and stunning style. I am 5'7" , 135 pounds, the medium was too big and I am alittle busty, 36C- but the small fit perfect and was perfect length for me. If you are considering buying, do it!
I was looking for a dress for an upcoming wedding and needed something that would be conservative enough for church but would also go with boots for the reception (no heels on cobblestone floors). I picked out several Anthro dresses in the store, and grabbed this one to try on on a whim. After trying on about seven dresses, this is the one I went home with. It's got slightly thicker material, which is nice for unpredictable Texas early spring, and feels substantial but not heavy. It does run slightly large- I'm typically a medium pretty much everywhere I shop, but had to size down for this (for reference I'm 5'8" and about 150 lbs; the lady at the shop said this brand tends to run large). The colors are a little brighter than the picture shows, particularly the orange/pinkish blooms. It also has pockets- ones that are big enough to fit my hands all the way in. After I go to this wedding, I'll have a great dress for dressier work days and nights out when it's a little colder outside.

As an Anthro employee, I am completely in love with this dress. I am always a size 0 in anthro dresses, so xs dresses are usually a bit roomy on me, and rarely work. However, this dress is perfect. The quality is excellent. The weight is a tad heavy, but not too heavy. I will be able to wear this well in to spring. I wore it for the first time yesterday, and honestly lost track of the amount of compliments I got.

Beautiful dress, nice material, unique design, and fits like a glove. It's a great length for wearing to work or for wearing on the weekend. I also want to give two thumbs up to Anthropologie's customer service, who promptly sent me a second dress when the first one got lost in delivery.
I loved this dress in photos and on the hanger. I saw it online and was not disappointed when I found it in the store. I bought it in store as a possible dress to wear to my sister's summer casual "boho" style wedding. She also liked it. However it really did nothing for me once I had it on. I am 5'7" about 135lbs, got a size 6 (did not have a 4 to try, that may have worked, the 6 was not tight) and it made me look short and boxy. I read the other reviews about the tulle and was planning to remove it, but decided not to keep the dress. Even with the illusion of the tulle removed, I didn't like the way the bottom/skirt is gathered all the way around, it's still a bit poofy and kind of immature looking on me. I think the waist and top part are pretty in photos but again, were not flattering on my figure. If the top had looked pretty on me, I would have kept the dress but tried a petite size so it would fall at or just above the knee rather than just below (I think that made me look shorter and short legged). I think this dress would look best on someone with a small waist and long legs. The zippers are really hard, I needed help.

This is a really lovely dress. I am impressed with the quality - it has several layers (including a crinoline) and feels well made. I saw this dress online and then went into the store to try it on, I'm glad that I went into the store as it wasn't exactly what I was expecting. It seems fancier in person and I plan to wear it to elope in. I usually wear an 8 or 10 in Anthro dresses and I took a 10 in this. I am 5'6 and it falls below my knee.

Beautiful dress, size up
This dress is absolutely gorgeous. The fabric is filmy and the detailing is fantastic. I'm very excited to wear it.
Two things to keep in mind:
1) This dress runs small. I'm usually a 6/8, and the 8 fit snugly (in fairness, I do have large ribs). If you're between sizes, I'd recommend sizing up.
2) There's tulle in the skirt, which surprised me when I tried it on. I didn't find it to be too voluminous, but it's definitely a bit puffier than it looks on the model.
3) I'm 5'6, and I found the petite worked well. It hit right above my knees.
I had run into anthro to do a return and this dress caught my eye. Purple stripey dress with pockets. Had a few minutes so grabbed it to try on. I am 5', 120 lbs, 34B. I usually wear a small, 4 or 4P. Since the neck is small, I tried to pull this over my head and felt stuck. I pulled it off to check for a zipper. Nope. No zipper. Even turned the dress inside out to make sure. It's very tight to get on and I had to shimmy it down over my chest. Once on it is snug in the torso but not uncomfortable. The belt gives a defined waistline. The length on me was about 2 inches below my knees which I would usually avoid since it makes me look even shorter except the bell shape of the skirt, V pattern and weight seem to lengthen the look of the leg. I had on tall boots and it completed the retro look. Then it was time to take it off. Another shimmy up and off it came. Dress was very flattering on, but getting in and out was a lot of work. Ended up not buying it. I don;t always like to work that had getting in and out of clothes.

Love this dress - yes the fabric is a bit stiffer than I expected but that is what made it hold its shape. I never got so many compliments on a dress in my life - well, maybe on my wedding dress but that was 17 years ago...
It is super comfy, looks great, and hides just what you need to hide so that you look stunning.

comfortable, easy dress
I agree that the dress is a little stiff getting over the chest area but it stretches a hair and once on fits like a glove. Not for large chested women. Bonus is that it has pockets.
