Well, I like a shift dress. Usually....but, this one was just too boxy for me. FYI: 5"3", broad shoulders/back, 36C, normally a 10 in a dress, but I can go down to an 8 in a dress that is not fitted in the waist. I am an 8/10 on top and a 4/6 on bottom, so I am very sensitive to a design that makes me look boxy. The fit of the 10 was a bit tight in the bust area, but the hips were just fine. But, I don't carry my weight in the hips, so...
Too bad, too, because the quality of the fabric (silk) is wonderful. The dress was a couple of inches above my knee, and that length is perfect on me for sandals in the summer. But, I couldn't get over the square in the front that, for my build, made me look like a big "square". If this dress had been made without the box design on the front, it would have been a winner, though.
If you were flat chested and had smaller shoulders, this would be a very versitile, comfortable dress for many occasions. For those that can fit this one, bravo!

Don't Pass this one up!!!
As others have said, if I had only seen this online, I would have quickly passed it up as a night shirt. HOWEVER, I saw it first in my local Anthro store and just HAD to try it on. I'm headed on an awards trip with my husband and was looking for something casual and resort-appropriate. I am pairing this with a nude pair of wedges which makes my legs look REALLY LONG! I felt the length was fun, not too short. Perhaps my height makes this dress work a little better on me than it would on others. I felt that the small fit perfectly. I am 5'10", 140lbs, 36B. Before you pass this one up, try it on--you may be pleasantly surprised!

I just received this dress, and it is beautiful and appropriate for all ages. I typically wear a medium in Anthro clothes but ordered a large so that it would hang loosely . I did the right thing. I think it is actually prettier than the picture shows.
Fell in love with it as soon as I saw it in store and felt the material. Wore this gorgeous summery dress to a brunch wedding event, accessorized with the Shilling Bib Necklace (chunky metallic) and black pumps. Absolute success, tons of compliments. The material and colors make the dress look very expensive and classy, great bang for the buck (relative to Anthro prices). With summer coming up, can't wait to wear it with minimalist jewelry and sandals as well. In cooler months, the billowy sleeves would allow me to wear it with slim black long sleeves and booties. It's an overall beautiful, flexible piece.
The wide sleeves makes it hard to wear a cardigan/blazer over. A thicker blazer could hide the sleeves bulging out underneath, but you'd crease it. Try finding a loose cover piece if you're going to wear it in cooler weather and want sleeves.

Saw this in the store window on Anthro Day & just had to try it on! At 5'3", 116#, 36C, my usual size in dresses is a small/6 - roomy, sometimes XS/4- may be snug. Tried on the small & a little room to spare - looks on me as in the model pic except a little longer at abt mid thigh. This dress is fully lined except the sleeves. The label does say it's silk & washable -not dry clean as suggested in Details. I wld probably use a delicate detergent for fine washables instead of a regular detergent though. Just a fyi- another customer was trying to decide on the S or XS. I believe she was shorter than me & the XS accented her small athletic build nicely so that's what she went with.
I really like this dress. It is unique. There is a modern edginess about it. There are side pockets. My only issue is the price. The material is good. It is not lined, but I am not sure lining would be good here. It is a bit thin, you can see the slight unraveling of the seams inside...The design is worth it, but I think it is not worth over $200. I might keep it, or I might wait for the sale..
