Rated 4 out of 5 by Stunning rug! Quality varies... This rug is absolutely gorgeous! The colors are vibrant and cheery and I fell in love with it. It is so beautiful that at first I did not want to walk on it. This is a thin rug, as all of the crewel rugs are, so if you are looking for a pillowy rug, this is not it. It's more like having a big wool sweater on the floor. However, if you just add a rug pad, it is as fluffy as any other. So, here are my adventures with this rug: at first I ordered the 3x5; the quality was great--the rug was soft, the stitching was tight and almost flawless--a true piece of art. However, I thought the room would look better with a 4x6, so I decided to try that out. The rug was of a totally different quality; it felt rough and the stitching was loose, so you could see the white background through the flowers. I tried again with another 4x6: this one was better, but it actually looked like a different pattern (the leaves were really big and the flowers looked smushed; very busy) and the craftsmanship was just not as high as the original 3x5. I tried again (I know, I like to think of myself as persistent, but I might just be a bit insane). Third time was a charm! I finally got the same high quality in the 4x6 and absolutely love it! I look forward to walking by the room it is in jus to see it. So, long story short: since these rugs are made by hand, by different people, the quality can differ(and sometimes dramatically). I understand slight differences in how the rugs look (and I actually think it's nice that each is a little different because it seems like they are one of a kind), but when the quality differs, that 's a problem. If you have a store nearby that you can return it to, I would advise ordering a few, comparing the quality and returning the ones that you did not like as much. Actually, mailing them back is not a problem either because they are so thin and anthro will pay for shipping both ways if you tell them about the quality. February 15, 2014
