Rated 4 out of 5 by SweetheartoftheRodeo These boots are sturdy, comfy, and definitely a quality pair. I purchased them in the beige color, which is a little more bronze-y taupe in real life...just a bit darker than shown in the photo. The handpainting didn't seem overdone or forced, which was a plus. However, they are hand made. My right boot ran about half an inch wider than the left, but not enough to send back and size down. I would say they run on the wide side in general, so if you have narrower feet, definitely take a size down. The PS Kaufman website recommends this as well. They were super comfortable out of the box and hardly need any breaking-in time. If you like the quirk of the hand painting, these are the shoes for you.

Okay - these are SO AMAZING I may wind up ordering the beige as well. Not only are they wonderfully playful and unique (I get compliments all the time) but they fit perfectly and are incredibly comfortable from the get-go. i typically walk 3-6 miles every day, and from the very first these babies felt like they were made for me. The body of the boot is constructed of double-walled leather that is buttery soft, but the two layers means that they are also sturdy and will be around for years. The hand-burnished and painted finish just seem to get more interesting with wear and goes well with a variety of looks. And lastly, the soles are covered with re-purposed tire rubber which makes them springy, nearly silent, and offers great traction with those unexpected ice patches Chicago winters are known for. Cannot recommend highly enough!

I purchased these boots about a year ago and they have held up to all sorts of weather, rain, snow, ice, with no problem. I bought the lighter colored pair and expected more paint splashed on, so I went and bought some spray on shoe paint and added more. I get comments on these all the time - people are really struck by the one-of-a-kind look. They are also extremely comfortable, even when walking for 5 - 8 miles a day in Toronto, NY or DC. The sole is thick rubber cut from a tire, so they have traction and do not slip. Good sturdy support in the ankle. I've dressed these up with tights and skirts, and down with jeans. They are my go-to winter footwear. One minor incident: a few nails holding the sole popped. I emailed the mfr and they wrote me to tap them back in place, which I did. It's been about 10 months and they haven't popped back out yet.
