 by heartshoes Maternity dress?
This looks so cute on the hanger and in the catalog, but this should be for sale at Pea and the Pod. I can't understand why Anthro would select this dress. I'm 5,9 and I still couldn't pull off the cut of this dress. It FTTS and I like that has pockets and is longer in the back...perfect for someone who's about 4-5 months preggers.

For me, this seemed like the perfect dress for a 4th of July picnic, and it is for the most part. The quality of the fabric and design are fantastic: soft cotton, thick enough to not be remotely transparent, hem reinforced with red material and deep side pockets (oddly not mentioned in product description). The caveat is in the fit, which is off a bit. I usually wear a 4, but ended up with a size 6 because the 4 was too tight in the rib cage area. It's difficult to explain. Where the elastic falls, it was too tight. I know, too tight in the elasticized area??? But there you have it. The chest area, on the other hand was a bit..."pointy". I'm a 34C and, honestly, I don't know how this would fit on someone who is really small-chested. I liked the length, which fell about an inch below my knee.
Having said all that, I still bought the dress because the size 6 worked pretty well, the flow of the dress is adorable and the quality definitely makes it worth the price. The dress looks really cute with the pair of green leather platforms I paired it with!

So I have a thing for polka dots, thus this dress was immediately appealing. It was also the right price point for an Anthro number. I was pleasantly surprised by the fit. As a high-waisted girl, this hit at my real waist (and would be very empire-level on anyone else), and the gathering was very flattering. I sized down to my smaller Anthro option, and that worked out beautifully. The neckline is low without being too much, and the straps are perfectly placed to hide bra straps, etc. For once, those cute little strings and snaps on the underside really work, and that is much appreciated in a summer number.
I love the asymmetrical hem- as opposed to some Anthro dresses from this season, it really isn't that noticeable but is enough so to be a little fun. It also makes bike riding easier, which I appreciate. The overall length is good; I'm 5'6" and this was pretty much spot on for an above-the-knee but just look.
The only thing I wish this little number had was Anthro's signature underskirt. It could use a little lining, and perhaps that typical lace detail on the underside, to really finish it off. It doesn't need it to be opaque, so I can see why they skipped it during the design process, and even without that, it's very cute and very flexible as to its wearings- I've managed to wear it out to dinner with heels, on a plane, and to a concert, all with good, comfortable, and much-complimented results.
