Rated 3 out of 5 by mugnip May not hold up over time
I was drooling over this flatware and then got a bonus at work, so decided to splurge. I bought 4 sets. It still seems nutty to pay that much for silverware, but I'm usually pretty good about not overspending, so figured why not. On arrival, the sets were gorgeous. They feel great, like little precision tools. However. (1) The wood smells chemical-y; (2) after maybe 10 times in the dishwasher the varnish has worn off of the wood handles; (3) the little fork & little spoon are really small (although that works for me & they're cute as ...uh, the opposite of heaven, which apparently I can't spell out here b/c it's considered profanity). Because of the wood varnish coming off in dishwasher, I'm considering taking them back. It's either that, or figure out how to reapply varnish, and mind you, I've had them for maybe a month. So might be worth it if you're willing to hand-wash only (never soak them) -- and if you don't mind a chemical smell. Otherwise, wait until they go on sale, or maybe keep looking.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Seabiscuit Each piece of the Seaborne Flatware set is sinuously designed however the materials and assembly come off as careless. Portions of the wood underneath the varnish look dried-out and do not meet the stainless steel flush, so that at times when you are eating your hand may catch on the handle's "wooden hangnails."

These are beautiful. I was very happy with the look of them. But, be warned, DO NOT PUT IN DISHWASHER. After 1 wash an acrid medicinal odor came from the wood, a smell that clung to other dishware that were washed with this flatware. My dishwasher smelled for days afterward! If you really want these, be prepared to hand wash each time. If these didn't have such a bad chemical smell from dishwashing I would buy 5 more sets. Now I regret I spent the $$ on something that is impractical for my busy life.
