This dress is undeniably beautiful and well-made, but I have already returned it to Anthro. I made the mistake of ordering regular sizing and not petite, but I could have sworn that petites were not available at the time I ordered. If you are interested in this dress and are shorter than 5'4", I highly recommend the petite sizing. I'm 5'3" since the regular hit about 3" below the knee. The awkward length made this dress look matronly.
Also, between every one of the buttons is a French hook. Yes, it helps the placket lay flat, but it was a time-consuming nuisance to get this dress on even though you really only have to unbutton and unhook to to the waistband and step in. But yes, that really is part of the impeccable construction. I just don't have the patience personally.
The dress is heavy! When I pulled it out of the package, I was surprised by the sheer weight of the garment. It wasn't so bad when it was on, but because of the weight and design details, I couldn't imagine cleaning it myself or the cost of having it dry-cleaned.
And it runs big. I should have sized down, petites or no. But yes, it's a five star dress for the person who it fits properly.

Beautifully Made - Runs Large
The fabrics are beautiful, the construction is sound, and the design is flattering! It feels mature and sophisticated. I bought this dress and the Prairie Dusk dress both in a size 12 - which on the size chart runs 39.5 - 31.5 - 41.5. I measure 39 - 32.5 - 48 and it slid right on. Very much outlines my behind, pulls a tiny bit in the front (easily fixed with shapewear) but doesn't feel tight. Even though my waist is an inch larger than the size chart, the dress could be tailored up to two inches at the waist. It would in fact be more flattering if I did that. I haven't decided yet if I should pay for tailoring, try a size smaller (which is ridiculous, I am not a size 10, especially not in clingy bottoms), or return it. If you are worried it won't fit your curvaceous hips - give it try - you might be surprised!

classy & Sexy
This dress is drop dead smokin when you try it on! I went into the store to try on the Carissima dress in black, which is a VERY similar style to the Mona and since they didn't have that dress in-store, I tried the Mona instead. I'm really glad I did. First off, I tried the only size they had, a 2, and even that could have worked b/c of the stretchy fabric. I knew that all I would have to do is purchase the size 4 and it would still be very fitted but comfortable. The fabric is thick and well designed to literally smooth your body like a Spanx! No need to wear a bra or anything underneath if you want a nice, clean line. Please don't think this dress is too conservative or blah based on the photos. This dress is the kind of sexy that sexy should be....subtle and classy. Not to mention that I love not having to bring a coat or jacket along to my event b/c the 3/4 length sleeve of this dress is plenty cozy...also, you can unbutton to mid chest if you'd like a little more somethin' going on other than a fully buttoned up look. I am 5'10, 145 and slender and the size 4 is perfect. I think this dress runs alittle big b/c normally I wouldn't buy a 4 in cocktail attire. I'm a solid 5 or 6 usually.
Why, oh WHY did this have to arrive just in time for Christmas? LOL I saw this astonishing dress just after my Carismma Sheath dress, in black, arrived. At first I thought this version was too close, but irl, it's in a class of it's own. You can barely tell from the photo, but the fabric on the bodice and skirt are different. The top has tiny circles with dots of red. The placket is also a different pattern, but instead of the hot mess I expected, the whole thing works to make you look like the most stunning creature in the room. Very, very flattering on most body types, but I'd dare say especially on the hourglass girl. This is the dress I would wear to dinner, to weddings, to business meetings with a jacket, to tea, to lunch with the girls, where wouldn't I wear this? Fit is tts, much like the Carismma sheath. I pray that it doesn't sell out before I can get my hands on one! Or, maybe, just maybe, it will show up under the tree!

Even better than I hoped!
I visited this dress many times on the website, hoping it would go on sale, but finally decided to bit the bullet and pay full price. Prior reviews listed its unique detail and surprises that made this dress a conversation piece (and why I love Anthropologie!) and it didn't disappoint! It is form fitting and sexy in a smart-girl way, but it also possesses an artistic/couture quality that renders it timeless. I am 5'6 and a 35" bust/128 lbs and went with the 4p, as I prefer the hem to hit me at or above the knee. The fabric has stretch, which allows it to fit to your body, not bulge and buckle as a stiff fabric would do. I also cut the belt loops and moved belt/ribbon down so it would hit my waist, as the petite waist was higher- no problem at all. I am SOOO happy I splurged and know this will be a 'go to' dress for years to come.

Gorgeous dress, amazing design
Having never purchased a Byron Lars dress, I was not sure to expect given that it is not made of ideal fabric. It was already sold out in all stores near me, so I took a chance and ordered it in my usual size 6. It fits perfectly, it is not too tight at all, yet simultaneously slinky and feminine. I was a bit worried how it would sit over my hip bones, but it looks perfect, and really has a slimming effect and creates gorgeous lines. I'm guessing that the material it is made of allows for this effect, therefore I"m ok with spending nearly 300$ on it. It feels sexy and vintage, while simultaneously uniquely modern and luxurious! This is an amazing dress: I definitely plan to buy the Carissima sheath asap as well.
I went to the store and tried on the dress in blue-- I saw the mauve color, but thought it may wash me out in the later winter months and I had no idea that green was an option. I was hesitant to try on the dress as it looked long (I am 5'3" and I tried it on in XXSP), but when I tried it on it looked perfect. It was stylish, but not too stylish. I could not justify spending $148.00 on the dress, so after much consideration I left without buying it.
However, this fit and style was so perfect I could not stop thinking about it. I went online and discovered the moss color and I was sold. I bought the dress immediately. The blue is gorgeous, but with my coloring I am hoping that the moss will look even better. I plan to wear this to work and to Christmas parties with suede booties.
The dress is fitted in the chest and arms area-- it is revealing in that sense. Otherwise, the waist down is very forgiving.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. Flattering, great sleeves and neckline, and the blue is a particularly lovely peacock color.

I am rarely happy with anything from Anthropologie, but this dress is the exception. I ordered blue and got in mail today. Super impressive fast delivery. The blue is rich and perfect fall color. It goes with every fall color including burgundy and olive. The material is soft, flowy and warm. NOT overly thick material but perfect weight for fall. Very figure flattering too. I have similar body type as model wearing the blue dress and that is why the dress looks perfect on me. Unfortunately, I am not sure this dress would work for all body types, but if you are slender, it will be perfect. I used my birthday discount and plus the extra 25% sale and was sold on it. Really perfect dress.
I tried this on in a regular size zero, which was quite my mistake, as I am usually a regular size 4 and thought I had grabbed that size. I'd say this runs big, as I was able to zip up the size zero without an issues, though I would probably size up to purchase. For reference, I am 5'1' and 118 lbs and usually a 4P or SP. The dress fell a couple of inches above my knees, which I thought was flattering.
The shoulders fell a little off the shoulder for me- sleeves like this sometimes drive me crazy as I keep wanting to pull them up to cover my shoulders. The top portion of the dress has a leotard look to it, which I like.
As other reviewers have mentioned, it is a bit short-waisted. I thought the overall look was flattering, as the skirt has a bit of an A-line shape to it.
The fabric is soft and has a good weight to it. Overall, I definitely think it is worth the price tag.

great fall dress
i bought the two summer versions of this dress and i loved them, but the scoop neck is a little low and occasionally my bra shows. i bought this dress because everything else was great about the others.
and this one is close to perfect. the ballet scoop neck line looks so elegant, and not too low.
the skirt hits at the smallest part of my waist and falls nicely….not to straight, not to flowly.
hits above the knee on me (5'5), in the same place it hits the model.
and the skirt has all of the lovely deep colors pictured.
i also enjoy the stretch fabric. again, not too heavy but not too flowy.
i am smaller on top, larger on bottom. 34A, 27 waist, 37 hips, 5'5, 127 lbs. 0 fits me perfectly….
the arms are slightly tight when i put them on, but the fabric stretches and is comfortable.
my only complaint is that i cannot buy another in a different pattern.

I've never felt compelled to leave a review before
...but this dress is so perfect. I purchased it to wear ay a casual wedding about a month ago and got so many compliments. Since then, it's my go-to when I want to feel extra good! It looks a little blah here on the model compared to how well it fits and flatters in person. That much pattern on the skirt part is outside of my normal aesthetic, but it's really pretty. The neckline is super flattering on a larger chest and the skirt part is just at the perfect slightly high waisted point. I'm a 34D, ~140 pounds. I just can't say enough about how flattering this dress is.
I ordered both this dress and the Larksong Dress hoping one of me would fit. Both dresses fit, but this dress own hands down. The cut is perfect - very feminine and with beautiful lines that flatters my hourglass figure. I too one size up than I normally take, but I find Tracy Reese a little on the small side, so I think this is more tts for this brand. The colors are amazingly vivid and the material is beautiful. I originally thought it was a knit, but I was delighted to discover than it's a very light woven material that drapes very nicely. I bought the regular instead of the petite - in retrospect, I think the petite would have worked better for my height but I was worried that the petite would be too high waisted for me. The regular is a little too long, so I will have to shorten this. I am debating about having the crinoline removed. Although it adds to the princess effect, I think it's a bit too much for my size...this is a beautiful dress that I can see wearing to many occasions....very happy!

Compliments all day long!
I am so happy with this dress! It is well made and I love the style of it. I wore it to work and didn't stop getting compliments all day long. It would be nice enough to wear out for special occasions too.
In New Zealand I usually buy size 8 tops and 10 bottoms. For dresses I buy size 8 for a style that comes in at the waist and then goes out (I can't buy ones off the rack that have pencil/fitted skirts on them as they are too tight over my hips. I have a small waist so like dresses that are the "fit and flare" style). I was a bit nervous about the conversion to US sizing, but ordered a size 4 and it is perfect.
The quality is great and I love the colours in the fabric.

Cuter in person
The fit is very flattering. I'm usually a true size 10 and have put on a few pounds, but the 10 fit perfectly. The skirt of the dress has a little crinoline in it which adds a little poof, but a fabulous subtle poof instead of a costume-like poof. Length was perfect for me, right at the top of the knees. It showed a tiny bit of cleavage but didn't make me uncomfortable. The print doesn't look that impressive online but in person it's very fun--it looks like an impressionist painting, and would be great for a party. I wore mine to a nighttime wedding with a little black cardigan and need to find another party to be invited to so I can wear it again.
Great in the pictures, Gorgeous on. I LOVE this dress and it fit well top to bottom.
I am 5'4 34B-27-36, 120lbs I normally wear a size 4, after reading all of the reviews, I decided on a size 4. In my humble opinion, the fabric feels mildly itchy but not enough to make me feel uncomfortable. It is form fitting and although the skirt bottom is an A line, I would say, it's barely an A line skirt. That being said, it was not tight around my hips or my back side and easy to walk in. The netting on the upper half is delicate and very well made. Fit well around and under my arms. I wore this dress with a strapless bra that secured low, closer to my waist. On me, you could see the back of my regular strapless bra. The length fell just long enough to cover my knees with the bottom see through net type material. I point this out because the top of the dress is actual delicate netting. Different from the very bottom. I love Everything about this dress. I agree with some of the reviews regarding sizing up if you are in between sizes or if you are larger on top. There is no give anywhere in this dress. I also had no issues with wrinkles after sitting for awhile. This dress is truly stunning on and the colors and design are incredibly flattering.

Fabulously Unique dress
This dress caught my attention online for its uniqueness. When the dress arrived via mail it met all my expectations. The material with the delicate net design is not going to tear easily. The fit is perfect. The A-line works well for my broad hips. Dress hits my knees. For reference I am 5 feet 2 inches, 112 lbs and I ordered a 2P. It is very rare for me to find a dress that fits like a glove. Will be keeping an eye out for Geisha designs in the future.
The only reason I took a star off, was because the piece had a slight defect. The stitch on the side below the zipper did not run straight resulting in a small bump in the material. Im glad there was another piece and anthro was quick to replace it.

The perfect Christmas dress!
We got this as a return to our store (since we don't carry it in stock) and I fell in love as soon as I saw it! It's form fitting since the material doesn't give/stretch at all. 100% recommend it for holiday parties!
Very pleased. i wore it last night for a wedding and not only was it comfortable, it was beautiful too. The colors are vibrant and much like a watercolor design as another reviewer stated. The silk chiffon is really a fabulous material for this dress b/c it "flowed" as I walked which lended itself to feeling like I was on a cloud, rather than feeling like I was wearing some tight, body hugging dress... or ill-cut, ill-made dress. The swingy shape is fun and looked good on my silhouette (I'm 5'10" and somewhat slender/athletic). It was a nice change up from a traditional A-line cut with a bodice or shift-cut dress. I would say the dress is true to size, although for me I had to size up to a small b/c I have recently put on too much muscle in my shoulders (thank you, hot yoga) for my normal x-small dresses. The dress is roomy through the body but it falls well and b/c the material is so light & flowy, it doesn't look like I was hiding anything. Wonderful colors, wonderful design, great fabric, A+ all the way around.

I saw this dress when it first arrived in the store but decided to purchase something else. For the next couple of days, I couldn't stop thinking how beautiful it looked, especially on an employee at the store. Even though she's much taller than me, we both look good in this dress. I returned a couple of days later only to find out that all were sold out except for an XS which fit me perfectly (my normal size is 2-4). Keep in mind that this dress has full swing thus one must be careful not to wear it on a windy day (especially for commuters like me who have to walk or stand outside waiting for the train). I think the colors are as breathtaking as the design and materials. The design is simple with just a touch of swing and the real silk make it look so classy (and it has lining). Dress it down with flats, make it rock 'n roll with black boots, or be ladylike with a pair of kitten heels. I own a lot of dresses, but I'm gushing over this one because I haven't seen a dress this beautiful in a long time. So refreshing to see real silk dresses again! No wonder it's sold so quickly.

Repeat: Better in person
As everyone says, the dress is way better in person. A-line swingy dress and very flattering for many body types.
Me: Size 10, sometimes 12. Size M for tops. Bust 39" (99cm), Height 5' 6½" (169 cm).
This one, I tried both M and L and purchased L - the reason was the length.
L is too big around shoulder and sleeves but the length is just above knee cap. On the the hand, M is perfect around shoulder and sleeves, it's a little bit shorter than I like. The shoulder is too big but it's acceptable because of the soft drapey fabric. But if you don't mind the length, you'd better go with your size, if in-between, smaller size is probably recommended.
As described in the product info, print placement really varies. Some dress has a flower print around neck, some has it at the bottom. Depends. So it's better if you can choose it in person.
Large size length is 36" (91.5cm)
Armpit - armpit is 21" (53cm)
